US School Days

Privacy

US School Days is a set of static pages about public schools. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms and no comments, so we never ask for your name, email address or any other personal details.

What we don't collect

We don't set cookies of our own, and we don't run analytics or tracking scripts. The search boxes on state pages and calendar hubs filter the list inside your browser: what you type is never sent to us. The "coming up" box on calendar pages works out the next school date from your device's own clock, also inside your browser. Printable PDFs and add-to-calendar files are ordinary files built in advance; downloading one doesn't tell us anything about you beyond the request itself.

What our web server records

Like almost every website, our web server writes a standard access log when it answers a request. Each line holds the page or file requested, the time, your IP address, and the browser and referring page your browser reports. We use these logs only to keep the site running: to spot errors, broken links and abuse. We don't sell them, share them for marketing or combine them with other data to identify visitors.

Services the pages load

Maps on school, district and state pages show tiles from OpenStreetMap. To draw them, your browser requests the tiles directly from the OpenStreetMap tile servers, which receive your IP address and the map area shown, under the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy. The map code itself is served from our own server.

The site shows no ads today. If we add them, this page will say which ad network we use and how to opt out of personalized ads before any ad code goes live.

Links to other sites

Calendar pages link to each district's own calendar document, and school and district pages link to their websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies; we don't control what they collect when you follow a link.

Your choices

Every table, date and number on the site is plain HTML, so the pages work with JavaScript turned off or with third-party requests blocked. Without JavaScript you lose the maps, the search boxes, table sorting and the "coming up" box; without third-party requests you lose only the map tiles.

Children

The site is written for parents and anyone looking up public school information. Because it has no forms or accounts, it collects no information from children.

Changes

If what the site collects changes, for example when ads are added, we update this page before the change goes live. The data sources behind the pages are listed on the About page.
